On Monday, Excelsior Springs, Richmond, parts of Clay County, all of Ray County and the lion’s share of rural and municipal areas within Missouri will begin to reopen. The reopening does not compare to a light switch being flipped on to turn darkness to light. The better comparison is to a dimmer switch on a chandelier that is dialed up from pitch black to reach a dawn effect before being turned up fully to similate noon. For example, do not expect Kauffman Stadium to reopen to crowds jammed elbow-to-elbow together to get to the concession stands, restrooms and seats. On Monday, the Royals are scheduled to play at home against the Houston Astros, baseball’s bad boys – an organization whose members have been exposed for cheating their way to a World Series win. Baseball fans could be expected at the ballpark to boo loudly and righteously against the Astros, except for that “dimmer switch.” Kansas City is not among the communities set to reopen Monday.
