Medicaid expansion plan goes to voters on Aug. 4
JEFFERSON CITY – Choosing between the November and the lessattended August elections, Gov. Mike Parson picked August for when the public should vote on whether to expand Medicaid to more Missourians.
Supporters filed an initiative petition to place the issue, called Amendment 2, on the ballot.

Parson’s likely Democratic opponent in November, Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway, estimated Medicaid expansion could save the state up to $1 billion annually by 2026.
Thirty-six governors have approved Medicaid expansion in their states, including Vice President Mike Pence while serving as Indiana’s governor.
