Local museum hosts ice cream social

With open arms and sweet treats, the Ray County Museum and the Ray County Historical Society hosted an ice cream social last Saturday with food, a live band, and smiling participants. “My favorite part was hearing the children laugh and play – seeing smiling faces at the museum,” said Ray County Museum Director Cathy Gottsch. “For me, as director, this was our first ice cream social.” Missouri Farm and Home, Daddy’s 10-13 Diner, Walmart, Sonic, and the Larry and Darrell band sponsored the event. Getting people out into the community and back at the museum has been a goal for Gottsch and historical society. Although the ice cream social idea began with Gottsch, she said volunteer and contributor Keesha Johnson took the idea and ran with it.
