Local FFA president wins grant
A $1,000 National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) grant has been awarded to Allison Coats of Richmond by Cencora Impact Foundation. Coats, a senior at Richmond High School, is currently the Richmond FFA chapter president.
SAE grants are designed to help FFA members create or expand SAE projects, a requirement that all FFA members must complete. An SAE requires FFA members to create and operate an agriculture related business, work at an agriculture- related business or conduct an agricultural research experience.
“An SAE can teach you many important skills including responsibility, time management and fiscal responsibility. It could also help you find a career path you would be interested in for the future. Through exhibiting across the nation, I have found lifelong friends,” said Coats.
Upon completion, FFA members must submit a comprehensive report regarding their career development experience.
