Dear Editor, This letter is to acknowledge and thank Ray County Road and Bridge for a thankless and never-ending job. Understaffed and with over 600 miles of gravel, Elvis Silkwood and his crew are out there five days a week, working on our roads. Last fall with the Missouri Highway 13 repaving project, Fields Road, 176th Street and Maddox Road supported hundreds of heavy trucks daily that were driving to the quarry and asphalt plant. This left those gravel roads in rough shape, to say the least, not to mention the trenching bringing internet to the rural parts of the county. Road and Bridge reshaped, graveled and graded those roads in April. I’d like to say thank you to everybody on the Road and Bridge team for addressing the damage. – Jim Pierce –
