With the goal of helping those in the community and giving inmates a purpose, Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers created an ‘Inmate Work Crew.’ The crew works on projects in the county at no charge to the recipient of the services. Childers made a video on the Ray County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page explaining the mission behind the crew’s work and it’s received a lot of positive responses. The inmate program takes Ray County Jail inmates and gives them the opportunity to work outside on projects, while supervised, as a volunteer for the betterment of those in need, Childers explained. “We won’t turn community members down, but we do have limits on projects.
