House completes redistricting map
Body
JEFFERSON CITY – The bipartisan commission tasked with redrawing Missouri’s 163 House districts completed the job last week.
The rural half of Ray County, cutting roughly diagonally from north to south, is in the 7th House District, and stays with state Rep. Peggy McGaugh. She loses the rest of the county, including Richmond, to Rep. Terry Thompson in the newly drawn 53rd House District.
The House Independent Bipartisan Citizens Commission agreed unanimously to the new map. Commissioners had not agreed on House district maps since 1991, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft said. Lack of House unity in 2001 and 2011 forced judges to draw districts.
