Hospital closes home health program
RICHMOND – Phasing out Ray Count Memorial Hospital’s home health program has gone “remarkably well,” Administrato Earl Sheehy said.
As this newspaper reported earlier, the hospital’s Board of Trustees voted in July to phase out the program. The board cited costs and competition as the reasons for closing the facility.
Officially, Friday marks the program’s last day of service to Ray County.
In phasing out the program, the hospital followed through on the obligation to refer clients in the program to other agencies. Getting clients connected “was a little difficult with a couple of them,” Sheehy acknowledged.
“But we had them taken care of by, well, … (the) end of the first week of September,” he said Oct. 5.
Sheehy also provided updates on the employees affected by the change. One employee has transferred from home health to hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation unit, he said.
