High school theater presents Little Women

Richmond High School (RHS) theater department is presenting its version of the play, Little Women, the Civil War story of love and family, based on Louisa May Alcott’s American classic. The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 1516, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at the Farris Theater in Richmond. Tickets are $5 per student and $8 per adult. RHS Theater Advisor Shari Donaldson said her theater students were looking for a dramatic show and Little Women fit. Based on Alcott’s life, the story follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her she has to do better and write more for herself. While Mr. March is away as a chaplain in the Civil War, Jo begrudgingly takes his advice, weaving the story of she and her sisters’ experience growing up during the Civil War.
