As we head into what would have been the final month of school for area students, I continue to ask parents to focus on the social-emotional health of students and themselves. By now, children and students recognize the drastic change that occurred due to the COVID-19 crisis and the impact it is having on daily routines, schedules and the social and economic impact in our world. Schools across the nation worry about the impact this suspension will have on their learners when students do return to school. Some students have handled the change well. Many have struggled. With distance learning beginning for all Hardin-Central students back on March 17 (the second day of fourth quarter), concessions have been made for fourth-quarter and secondsemester student grades as follows: • Elementary students will have grade cards, but because they were not tested on fourth-quarter standards those assessments will be blank.
