Four seek Ray County presiding commissioner seat

Four candidates are seeking to become Ray County’s next presiding commissioner, though only three will appear on the Aug. 4 primary ballot. The candidates are Ben Aldrich, Brianna Rock, Ronald White and Gary Wilhite. White, who is running as an independent, will appear on the November general election ballot. Aldrich, 69, is a retired JD Heavy Equipment salesman and current rancher. A 1975 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School, he has been married and lived in Ray County for 43 years. He has owned a farrier service for nine years, managed a feed store in Excelsior Springs for 14 years and working the past 28 years for Murphy Tractor & Equipment in Kansas City. He said that work allowed him to become familiar with county budgets, equipment purchasing and working with county commissions. “The county has been good to me and I want to serve the county and give back,” he said.
