Elliott, Aggies prompt football rethink

Keyshaun Elliott almost changed my feelings about college football. Elliott, many of you will recall, was a standout three-sport athlete at Richmond High School, where he graduated in 2022. Now in his second year at New Mexico State University, he plays linebacker for the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision program. In following Elliott this season, I learned he and his fellow Aggies had a string of midweek games scheduled – three Wednesday night games, one Tuesday night game. Normally, I don’t watch or listen to midweek college football games for two reasons. One, the schools that typically play then are ones I’ve never heard of – or frankly, if I have heard of them, they don’t do anything for me emotionally. But more importantly, playing college football on a Tuesday or Wednesday is flat-out wrong. Ditto Thursday night college football – and Thursday night pro football, for that matter.
