Near Dear Elementary in Richmond, fences have been erected for construction of the up and coming Dear Elementary Early Childhood Center (ECC). Traffic flow will be changed as construction starts, said Dear Elementary Principal Dr. Marlaine Boyd. “The construction fencing has gone up, there are a few noticeable changes to the traffic flow. Buses will now be entering the side parking lot on the temporary gravel drive. This will accommodate a wider curve for the bus turn which is necessary since a large portion of the lot is now behind fencing,” said Boyd. She stated parking will be limited during construction and some staff will be parking on the east end of the Dear Elementary playground. “Preschool pickup for all classes will still be at ‘Door 9’ in the west parking lot. However, parents will only be able to enter the parking lot from Main Street and will need to park in the paved lot since the gravel lot is now behind construction fencing,” said Boyd.
