Crowd rips Gov. Parson’s COVID-19 order, issues message: RE OPEN MISSOURI

JEFFERSON CITY – People angry about being furloughed from jobs and having their businesses closed are denouncing Gov. Mike Parson for following the social distancing strategy urged by medical professionals. Parson made Missouri the 42nd state to issue a stay-home order. Protestors in various places across the nation have expressed frustration with stay-home orders, including in Kansas City on Monday. The Reopen Missouri demonstration Tuesday in Jefferson City drew at least 500 observable protestors, including Will Bates, Kansas City-North; Justin Ford, Wellington; Dennis Kenyon, Springfield, who questioned whether medical evidence supports ‘ a shutdown; and Melissa Carter, Jefferson City, who brought four children to the event in front of the “Signing of the Treaty” sculpture on the Capitol’s north side, on the bluff overlooking the Missouri River. “We’re here to protest the governor’s order from the state telling everybody to stay home,” Carter said. “It overstepped his authority and…
