ABOUT $340,000 SENT OUT ABOUT $160,000 REMAINS AROUND 50 HAVE APPLIED RICHMOND – Small businesses seeking COVID-19 relief funds will receive one last notice to apply, Ray County commissioners have decided. “This is going to be their final letter,” Presiding Commissioner Bob King said. “They need to get this in now.” The county’s grant writer, Heather George, said she would expect no foot dragging. “I imagine these people need money pretty bad and they’re going to put this in quickly,” she said. The county mailed 340 letters to businesses, about 50 businesses applied, roughly $340,000 has been distributed and $160,000 remains, King said. On average, businesses that applied received $25,000. County Treasurer Melissa Holloway said to allow time for her office to process any additional requests for funds and to prepare application documentation for the government, she would like the commission to set May 31 as the closing date to ask for funds through the Coronavirus Aid Relief…
