RICHMOND – After being home for days that have turned into weeks, Ray County employees who may be suffering from “cabin fever” have the option to return to work Monday, Presiding Commissioner Bob King said. “We’re essential to be open,” he said. The commission issued the order out of concern that county business on the public’s behalf may not be getting accomplished fully and quickly in some offices, King said. “We’ve got a lot of things that we haven’t gotten done,” he said. Employees have been paid 100% of their salaries while furloughed. Employees will not be forced to return to work, King said. “We’re giving them the option to come back – that’s the main thing,” he said. Employees who decide against taking the option can use accumulated vacation time or sick leave, King said.
