City council approves repairs, purchase of impellers

Richmond City Council recently approved $8,817 in repairs to the surge protection system, to be provided by JCI Industries Inc. “At the meeting held on Feb. 13, with the Public Works Committee, we discussed the recent power surge experienced by the 210 Lift Station. The surge caused significant issues with the pumps and necessitates the replacement of surge protection equipment,” said Richmond City Administrator Tonya Willim. Currently, Willim said the Public Works Committee is uncertain of the viability of Pump No. 1 repairs until it is evaluated by JCI. “However, it is confirmed that a high voltage surge occurred, resulting in the failure of surge protection mechanisms. Such failures can stem from repeated surges, leading to a loss in the ability to safeguard connected equipment,” she said.
