City council approves bike route

The Richmond City Council has unanimously approved support for the U.S. Bicycle Route (USBR) 51 designation through Richmond. “This is a bicycle route mapping project and is part of a national effort through the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to expand the US Bicycle Route system,” explained Richmond City Administrator Tonya Willim. The proposed route in Richmond enters on the intersection of Missouri Hwy 10 and E. Main St. to Wollard Blvd. The path leads to Ray County E. 84th Street. then turns onto Missouri Hwy 13 to the Missouri River and south. Willim said ACA, along with Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), is requesting members show support by resolution and Letter of Support to MoDOT if the route is through the member’s community, in this case, Richmond.
