Ray County officials are exploring new software to modernize Road and Bridge operations, with the potential to expand its use across other county offices.

Commissioners and county staff reviewed a demonstration from Open-Gov during a recent work session that focused primarily on Road and Bridge operations, including tracking completed work on county roads, materials, equipment, costs and resident requests. The discussion also explored ways similar technology could be used by Planning and Zoning and other county offices.

OpenGov Solutions Engineering Manager Ross Edwards demonstrated the platform, designed for state and local governments and featuring applications that can work together across departments. For Road and Bridge, Edwards showed that a resident’s request could become a work assignment, with employees then recording labor, equipment and materials on a computer, phone or tablet as the work is completed.
