Cavanah places second at state competition
A Richmond senior was recently recognized for her public speaking skills.
Livia Cavanah, a Richmond High senior and Lex La-Ray Technical Center student received a silver medal in the prepared speech category of the Leadership Contest Division at the Missouri SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference, held April 4-6 at the State Technical College of Missouri in Linn. Cavanah’s second-place presentation was titled “No Limits.”
The SkillsUSA West-Central District president for this school year attributed her preparation for the presentation to interviewing for jobs and her involvement in school organizations.
“I drew inspiration on my speech through my lived experiences in school and jobs that I currently enjoy,” she stated.
After graduating this spring from Richmond, Cavanah plans to attend State Technical College and remain involved with SkillsUSA.
