CAP hosts summer dance

Complete with dancing and limbo, Special Needs Services (SNS) of Ray County hosted Community at Play (CAP) Summertime Fun Dance recently. SNS Executive Director Suzan Breen stated the event, which was open to the public, was positive and fun, with the goal was to get people moving. During the festivities, Breen mentioned a woman who recently began using a wheelchair who participated in the 30-minute game of limbo. “She’s adjusting to it,” said Breen. “Her wheelchair reclined and she played, going under and when the bar didn’t touch her – she found joy. She was screaming and hollering, which motivated other people in wheelchairs to play. The message was ‘we can do the same thing as everyone else.’” Breen said the point of SNS and CAP events is to get people physically active and letting their inner child out.
