Board updates taxpayers on building status

As many residents know, Ray County 911 has been working to replace the current 911 dispatch facility. Many questions and concerns have been circulating that the board would like to address. Property has been purchased to build a new facility, located at 105 Matt Waller Ave in Richmond. This site allows the space needed to build a facility that will meet today’s needs, as well as those that arise as the county grows in the distant future. The facility will be built to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standards to withstand nearly any natural disaster that could occur in the area. The current cost estimate for the facility, along with the equipment to outfit it, totals nearly $10,000,000. The organization has a voter approved tax in place that provides for the dayto- day operations of Ray County 911. The tax also allows the board to finance the construction of the new facility.
