Annual street maintenance projects completed
RICHMOND – Richmond’s infrastructure includes about 42 miles of city streets that the city maintains, with this year’s summer work completed.
Streets are maintained regularly to ensure a viable transportation system for residents, businesses and visitors, city information states. This activity typically starts in late July and is completed by the end of August.
The 2020 Street Maintenance Project included resurfacing 15 streets in Richmond, and the approach this year varied a bit from past years. Typically, the city uses contractors to mill and overlay streets. But this year, the city chose contractor Donelson Construction Co. and a new method of resurfacing, PressurePave.
“The PressurePave process is extremely efficient and cuts down the amount of time the street is closed or impassible due to maintenance,” city information states. “This reduces the negative impacts street maintenance projects can have on our residents.
