RICHMOND – Ray County commissioners plan to evaluate and answer requests from community businesses for federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security, or CARES, Act funding received by the county. “We’re looking at the small businesses in Ray County,” Presiding Commissioner Bob King said. “We’ve got a grant writer that is helping us to determine where we could do (grants) legally.” By now, county businesses should have received rules regarding CARES Act funding applications, King said. “We have sent out information,” he said. “We have not heard back from too many of them.” “We mailed it out to 300-some-odd businesses,” Commissioner Jerry Bishop said. Commissioner Allen Dale said CARES Act money should provide a bit of relief. “We’ve set aside $500,000 for the grant program,” Dale said.
