JEFFERSON CITY – Gaming machines and sports betting would be allowed, regulated and taxed in Missouri if bills submitted in the Senate by Denny Hoskins pass. But that seems unlikely now that the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has shut down the General Assembly for no one knows how long. Gov. Mike Parson said lawmakers should take on gambling questions facing the state, including sports betting online. “We’ve got to address the gaming issue,” Parson said in Jefferson City a few weeks ago. “We’ve got to figure out what’s legal and what’s not legal.” Parson said he could not go so far as to say he would sign any gambling bill without knowing the content. “My standard answer … when you ask me that in January is, ‘I don’t know until I see what that legislation looks like, because it will change,” he said. “But I do think we’ve got to address the issue.” Senate bill 566, dubbed the Video Lottery Control Act, recognizes that Missouri cities that have casinos take potential gambling…
