Some people don’t like change. Some thrive on it. But, by the time we’re middle- aged, making huge life changes is not enticing to most people. For Paul and Vicki Comeau of rural Ray County, they don’t turn away from any challenge no matter the circumstances. When the Comeau’s daughter, Katryn, and her husband relocated to his home state of Missouri in 2019, Paul and Vicki decided there was nothing holding them back from packing up and moving here, too. It also meant re-establishing Paul’s pinstriping and airbrush business in an entirely new geographical area and customer base. In 2020, Vicki came out here to find a place to live with enough property, “about 20 acres,” Paul said. The idea was to have enough space to have a large building for his business. Instead of 20 acres, Vicki found “a perfect place” with 80 acres and a rundown house a few miles north of Richmond.
