Fundraising shifts into high gear at Spartan Spectacular Auto Show

Engines revved and the smell of barbecue drifted through the air as the Richmond High School parking lot filled with polished chrome and colorful paint jobs. More than 80 cars, trucks and motorcycles lined up for the second annual Spartan Spectacular Auto Show, a fundraiser parents and supporters of the Class of 2027 organized to benefit Project Graduation and After Prom. Brian James, one of the event organizers and a parent of a Richmond High School student, noted the auto show was designed to stand out from the typical fundraising efforts that often support senior activities. “Every year, fundraising is needed for prom and the graduating class,” said James. “These can be a variety of things that we have all seen before but the parents in our class thought, why not something bold and different and the auto show became the answer.” The show gave students and parents an opportunity to raise money while also bringing the community together for a family event.
