Spartans get 13-stroke win against Lawson Cards
RICHMOND – Hannah Norris and Kennedy Wrisinger delivered the one-two punch that helped the Spartans edge Lawson Wednesday at Shirkey Golf Course.
Norris, a senior, shot a 54 (+16) for the nine-hole, par-38 round to lead the Spartan girls, who shot a combined 244. She also finished as the individual medalist.
Wrisinger, a sophomore, shot a 56 (+18) to finsh as the runner-up.
Junior Tori Bowman shot a 65 (+27) and sophomore Zalie Gregory shot a 31 (+31) to provide the final scores the Spartans would need to submit a team score.
Nina Schaedel led the Cardinals with a 59 (+21). Elaina Hurst shot a 62 (+24) to finish as Lawson’s No. 2 golfer.
Aubrey Cox and Morgyn Hubbard each shot a 68 (+30) to provide the other scores that counted toward Lawson’s team total. A fifth golfer, Maggie Thompson, shot a 71 (+33).
Trenton also participated in the competition, which had been postponed from a week earlier. The Bulldogs had an imcompete team.
