At press time, Richmond was looking to keep its season going in varsity softball.
The Spartans (2-14) were preparing to face Savannah Thursday in Class 3 District 8 Tournament play, with the winner to advance to the semifinals at noon Saturday, according to the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
Richmond was looking to snap a fourgame losing skid entering the singleelimination postseason tournament, hosted by Benton High School and played at Heritage Park in St. Joseph. The Spartans finished their regular season Oct. 5 with a 14-4 Missouri River Valley Conference-East Division loss to Knob Noster at Southview Park.
