For the most part, the 2023-24 varsity boys and girls basketball seasons are underway in Ray County. Hardin-Central tipped off Nov. 17 against visiting Northland Christian. The girls cruised to a 31-16 victory. The boys won 47-45. Both Hardin-Central programs were slated for a non-conference meeting Tuesday with Chilhowee at Chilhowee. The Orrick boys also opened Nov. 17, falling 60-36 on the road to Northwest of Hughesville. The boys and girls were scheduled to play Tuesday at Polo. The Richmond boys opened Monday with a 70-67 overtime loss at Oak Grove. The girls are slated to open Nov. 27 at Lawson.
