’Dawgs prep for Lexington XC meet

Like Richmond, Hardin-Central’s cross country runners will take a short hop across the Missouri River Saturday. The Bulldogs are slated to run that morning at the Battle of Lexington Invitational on the Lexington High School campus. It’s part of a schedule that began Sept. 3 with a meet at Salisbury. Two varsity runners, Valerie Gabel and Emily Barrett, competed in a 2.2-mile girls race, with Gabel placing 66th in 18 minutes, 30.9 seconds and Barrett taking 84th in 19:26.6. Gabel was Hardin-Central’s lone varsity runner Sept. 12 at the Marshall Invitational, finishing the 3.1-mile girls race in 33:36.49 – good for 31st. In other Marshall results, Alaina Charlons was Hardin-Central’s highest middle school finisher, placing 15th by running the 2-mile girls race in 17:26.07. Owen Fortin paced the Hardin-Central boys middle schoolers, placing 19th in 14:15.1. Hardin-Central’s middle schoolers also have run at a few meets on their own.
