Winter storm on the farm is hard work

Amid the recent snow drifting into the area, children stayed home as parents scrambled to make work arrangements. Others worked from home, and some took the day off to cozy together, watching movies and making homemade pizza. While the weather may have caused an upset to some, for others, it was an excuse to spend the day with their family. In my household, it means work is only the beginning. Not only does the news never sleep, meaning mom still must work, but dad is busy working the farm in the cold weather as concrete cannot be poured while snow falls from the sky. Winterizing on the farm has already come and gone; tank heaters have been in place since late October, and the hose is already in rotation for thawing for the daunting seasonal walks through the cold. Yet, more work on the farm needs to be done, and this time of year, there is more to do daily than in the spring.
