Peggy Jean Sullard
Peggy Jean Sullard, 89, of Richmond, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at North Care Hospice House in Kansas City.
Peggy was born on May 11, 1932, in Branch, the daughter of James Monroe and Eliza Mae (Jump) Lynch. She was united in marriage to Donald Gene Sullard of Richmond on Aug. 25, 1950; he preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2002.
Survivors include daughter, Anita (John) Gezich of Liberty; five grandchildren, Dustin (Ashley) Sullard of Lawson, Sheena Hicks of Lawson, Devin (Brynne) Mellon of Olney, MD, Leanna Gezich (Bob Olson) of Liberty, and Griffin Gezich of Green Lane, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Brady Sullard, Preslee Sullard, Greenli Hicks, Everlee Hicks, Joey Mellon, Finnley Mellon, and Louie Mellon; brother, Marion (Wanda) Sullard of Richmond; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Lynch of Holt and Mary Sullard of Santee, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Don Sullard; three brothers, Loren, Oren, and Orie Lynch; three sisters, Lola Parrick, Effie Harrington, and Ermel Walker; and brother-in-law, Wayne Sullard.
Peggy was reared and educated in Branch, the area of her birth. As a young woman, when she moved to Richmond, she got a job as a waitress; it was here she would wait on her future husband, who kept asking to walk her home after work. He would in time propose to her on the Ferris wheel at the county fair. She was a housewife and homemaker who also worked at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Her activities included the Saturday Lunch Bunch, being a member of God Squad, and enjoyed playing cards with her card club twice a week, where they played hand-in-foot. She also enjoyed garage sales, shopping, and traveling.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and services to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. The family will be hosting a dinner/reception at the Senior Center in Richmond after burial.
