The Richmond News, Aug. 9, 2024
Edward Martin “Marty” Corle, 61, of Richmond passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

He was united in marriage to Norma June Howard of Richmond in November of 2012. She survives of

the home.
Additional survivors include his father of Richmond; sister, Brenda (Jim) Moore of Richmond; two nieces, Tori (Richard) Tate of Sedalia and Roni Smith (Lee Stichler) of Henrietta; numerous great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Kathy Thompson of Richmond; and childhood best friend, Paul (Felicia) Farabee of Henrietta.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Marty attended school in Richmond, graduating in the class of 1980.
A man of many skills, he retired from his first career as a millwright at the Ford Motor Co. plant, followed by caring for disabled persons in group homes. More recently, in 2022, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural postal carrier.
Always with a strong and often booming voice, Marty was a tender-hearted and generous gentle giant who always jumped in to help friends, family and strangers in need. He also was always the first to laugh, especially at himself. We will miss his compassion, kindness and honesty.
As an avid collector and consumer of books of all kinds, he favored historical subjects, particularly the Civil War. His office looked like that of a librarian who didn’t know anything about the Dewey Decimal System.
He married Norma, the love of his life, in 2012. Together, they raised an ever-growing family and menagerie of beloved fur babies. Marty loved his wife more than anything in the world, followed by many adoring, spoiled fur babies; a large pouring of good scotch; gun shows; antique shops; his best friend PT; a big, soft recliner; and Dairy Queen.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Ray County. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation and funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 2, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the services at 11. Interment was in Richmond Memory Gardens.
