The effort to remove Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston

from office involves allegations surrounding three relationships, conflicts of interest and her conduct within the prosecutor’s office.

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway filed the quo warranto petition July 16, alleging misconduct and neglect of official duties and asking the court to remove Johnston from elected office. Johnston has denied many of the allegations and is contesting her removal.

Forty-Third Circuit Court Judge Daren Lee Adkins recently rejected the state’s request to remove Johnston without a trial, with the case now scheduled for trial Dec. 8. Details about the ruling and arguments presented by both sides can be found on page 1.
