Richmond upgrades regs on closed sessions, records

Richmond officials have revamped city regulations for holding open and closed meetings, as well as making government records public. Recently, Richmond City council agreed to update Section 150.020 of the city code to align with the Missouri Revised Statutes governing access to closed records, votes and meetings. Those regulations are under Section 610.021 of the state statutes – a section commonly known as the “Sunshine Law.” The approval marks the city’s first update to Section 105.020 in 15 years, according to an April 9 memo from City Administrator Tonya Willim to other government leaders. Under the revised section, city records, voting and meetings are publicly available, but there are 26 types of exceptions for keeping that information confidential.
