Richmond is heading into a new fiscal year with a budget that includes investments in streets, parks, public safety and city facilities while maintaining required operating reserves.

City Council members recently adopted the city’s FY27 operating budget, covering Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2027, along with an updated comprehensive fee schedule incorporating additions and increases included in the new budget.

Councilmember Deanna Guy noted the Finance Committee first reviewed the proposed budget before the full council considered it during a work session. According to city docu- ments, the Finance Committee reviewed the proposal Sept. 3, followed by the council Sept. 9, with no changes requested.

The budget projects approximately $11.2 million in revenue and $12.84 million in expenditures across city funds. The budget includes planned one-time purchases and capital expenditures, some of which will be funded through available fund balances.
