Orrick starts new school year with new admins

When the fall semester started in August at Orrick, the school district did so with a new superintendent, Scott Guilkey; and a new secondary school principal, John Haley. The new administrators share at least two common bonds – ties to Braymer and to North Kansas City. Guilkey, who succeeds Scott Archibald, joins the administration after a three-year stint at Braymer as high school principal. Orrick and Braymer “are very similar” districts, even in the number of students, he said Aug. 15 during an interview in Haley’s office. Guilkey’s other work experience has included stints in the North Kansas City and the Ozark districts, he said. “l grew up in a small town and was ready to get back to that,” said Guilkey, a Lawson High School graduate. Haley, who succeeds Michelle Wityk, is a Braymer native who served for eight years at North Kansas City before taking his position at Orrick.
