Mushroom Festival art show draws dozens of pieces
RICHMOND – The Ray County Community Arts Association’s Annual Fine Arts and Photography Show drew dozens of entries at the Friends Gallery, 110 S. Camden St., event coordinator Melinda White said.
The show returned after being interrupted by the pandemic in 2021, she said. Per the show’s tradition, the program took place in conjunction with the Richmond Mushroom Festival.
“We missed last year, but we’re glad to be back,” White said while walking among pieces of art on display at the gallery.
The show attracted 69 entries, fewer than in previous years, but represented quality work; and the numbers should increase next year as word spreads that entries are again being accepted, she said.
“We have a lot of excellent pieces of art this year,” White said.
Paintings, pencil drawings, pen and ink drawings, and photographs covering a variety of subjects – landscapes, birds and one of a crawdad’s encounter with a frog – hung on the gallery walls.
Artists also submitted pottery and sculptures…
