Jail trustee caught outside without permission

A jail trustee was caught without Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers’ permission outside the jail with his girlfriend on Sep. 11. After a sheriff’s deputy found the trustee in question, the sheriff’s department investigated phone calls from the trustee and found evidence that could have confirmed an “inappropriate relationship between a corrections officer (CO) and inmate,” said Childers. “We asked the Richmond City Police Department to do an investigation. They performed three interviews and computer Voice Stress Analyzers tests. It showed everyone was being truthful, and during that time that officer worked here there was no inappropriate relationship. Everything has been cleared up,” stated Childers.
