Farris’ yearly Christmas musical a hit
Everyone knows the story about the three wise men, but what if they were the average redneck men? The Farris Theatre coordinated its yearly Christmas musical and musical director McDavitt Rogers decided to go with a comedy for the viewers. The musical was shown on Friday Dec. 9 through Sunday Dec. 11 with 10 cast members.
The musical is called “A Good Old Fashioned Redneck Country Christmas: The Musical” written by Kristine Braushe. It is the story of the three wise men but with a different twist. The “friendliest country place on earth” has a rough turn on Christmas Eve and when the husbands decide to ditch their wives, an unlikely chain of reactions begins.
“There are a lot of comedic lines and puns,” said Rogers.
One thing leads to another, the three redneck men find their way to a barn where a young woman gives birth to a son. Sound familiar? The unique three wise men and nativity is one people laughed and enjoyed at the three showings last week.
