The city of Richmond will pay $6,790 more than expected for the 2023 fiscal year audit. City Finance Director Dawn Jennings explained the March invoice submitted by Westbrook & Co. P.C. for the firm’s auditing work totaled $30,790. Initially, the city had earmarked $24,000 for the audit, as approved by the city council. Last week, the city council approved designating $6,790 more to cover all costs. Per an agreement between the city and Westbrook for the firm to audit the city for fiscal years 2022-26, the cost of the fiscal year 2023 audit was to have a $24,000 cap, according to Jennings. However, the contract also states “additional fees may be charged for significant changes in the audit scope or unexpected circumstances,” she noted.
