To help transition fifth-graders into sixth grade, Sunrise Elementary fifthgrade teachers have come together to discuss highlights from their departmentalization at the latest R-XVI Richmond School District board meeting. In the past, each teacher had to teach all curricula; now the curriculums are divided per teacher. “I asked them to present highlights because these ladies have really planned and now have implemented a full quarter of a new kind of structure of instruction for fifth grade. They have chosen to be departmentalized,” said Sunrise Elementary Principal Sara Terrill. “They came to me last fall and said they wanted to do it.
