Dear Elementary host Veterans Assembly

To honor local Veterans in Richmond, Dear Elementary hosted a Veteran’s Day Assembly last week. “This is our first veterans’ assembly since 2019 – we are excited to have veterans come into our building to honor them,” said Dear Elementary Principal Dr. Marlaine Boyd. Preschool, kindergarten and first-grader students sang the Star-Spangled Banner, Oh, I Love America, Thankful for the U.S.A.; Red, White, and Blue; My Flag and American Everyday. Dear Elementary teacher Brittany Vest helped create the “Veterans Day” video and the “Thank you, Soldiers” video, which were both played at the assembly and featured students who sat in the audience. The music was directed by Dear Elementary music teacher Brandon Wehmeyer. “We are happy you’re back in the building so we can give you a heartfelt ‘thank you.’ Maybe these little minds don’t quite grasp it all the way but we’ve planted the seed and will soon understand how important you are to us and our freedom.
