Ray County residents voiced surprise, concern, support and discontent as Scott Childers was forced to step down from his position as Ray County Sheriff via petition of quo warranto by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey. Ray County Coroner Bartley J. Willim will assume the sheriff’s position as Childers will remain on administrative leave during the investigation. Many supporters took it upon themselves to create a public Facebook page titled “Support Sheriff Childers” with nearly 1,000 members. “I am here to support a man – who is trying to make a positive difference and impact. I have only seen him be a kind, caring human being, a great father and husband to his family.
