JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Mike Parson has signed the bill revising the boundaries of Missouri’s eight congressional districts, ending the most contentious legislative battle of the year. The change means all of Ray County will move out of the 5th Congressional District, represented by Emanuel Cleaver II, and into the 6th Congressional District, represented by Sam Graves. Graves will continue to represent Excelsior Springs and most of Clay County. This is a description for new boundaries for this area’s congressional districts… • 5th District: The district lost the rural counties of Lafayette, Saline and Ray, and the lines outside Kansas City in Jackson and Clay counties have shifted, with Lee’s Summit and eastern Blue Springs now in the district. • 6th District: Geographically the state’s largest, the northwest Missouri district covers most of the area north of the Missouri River statewide, and all but some counties adjacent to the river in northeast Missouri.
