Chase Sims wanted to coach Orrick High School softball for one primary reason. “I wanted these girls to have a season,” Sims said March 12. “And if we don’t have a coach, unfortunately, we don’t get to have a season.” That season got underway last week. The Bearcats opened March 19 with a 17-0 home loss to Crest Ridge, followed by a 16-0 loss to Wellington-Napoleon March 20 at Napoleon. The girls finished the week March 22-23 with the Santa Fe Snowflake Classic at Alma, falling 5-4 to Midway March 22 and 15-0 to Concordia March 23, records on MaxPreps.com state.
