Richmond boys wrestlers runners-up at Lexington dual tourney

LEXINGTON – Richmond’s secondplace finish in boys wrestling Dec. 10 at the Tom Hayes Dual Tournament at the Lexington high and middle schools gives coach Cody Hogan cause for optimism about the rest of the season. “I thought we wrestled tough for the most part of the day,” Hogan stated Monday by email. “(We’re) still making a lot of mistakes we need to clean up. But we have time to do that.” The tough-wrestling Spartans went 4-1 . They were undefeated in pool play, downing Sherwood 48-33, Blue Springs South 66-18, South Harrison 48-36 and Kansas City-based Guadalupe Centers Charter 72-0. They fell to Brookfield 5130 in the championship dual. Cayden Morris, Elijah Sanders and Aidan Ivision helped lead Richmond to its runner-up finish by each going 5-0. Morris wrestled at 113 pounds, Sanders was at 157 and Ivison was at 190. Their victories included forfeit wins. Ivison’s wins included a secondperiod pin of South Harrison’s Mayson Edwards.
