RHS netters rise to Terry’s challenge

Richmond coach Brett Terry issued a challenge to his varsity boys tennis team before Monday’s home dual with Knob Noster. “(The) last time we played (them), it was 5-4,” Terry recalled. “So I said, ‘Hey, … let’s at least try to win six matches this time or maybe … seven.’” They won seven. The Spartans won five of the six singles matches en route to getting the Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division victory at Maurice Roberts Park, including a win by forfeit. Winners included seniors Marqus Owens and Gabe Baker. Owens cruised past Micah Brittain 8-0 in the No. 3 match.
