LEXINGTON – Richmond’s Kaylee Pugh shared the credit for her victory in the girls 100-meter dash at the Bill Hamann Invitational. “The wind definitely helped, being behind my back,” Pugh said a few minutes after winning the race April 11 at Lexington High School. Pugh felt the tailwind begin to push her around the 50-meter mark, she said. “Way better than (it) being in front,” Pugh said. The senior wished, though, that she had started the race better, she said. “(I) just kept pushing through,” Pugh said. The 100 was one of two races Pugh won. She also nabbed the 200, finishing in 27.55 seconds. Pugh was one of two Richmond girls to place in the top four in at least two individual events. Junior Kaylee King won the long and triple jumps, and placed third in the 300 low hurdles. Pugh and King were among five topfour individual finishers for the Richmond girls, who finished fourth in the team standings with 92 points.
